Board of Trustees / Police Officers

Membership on the Board of Trustees / Police Officers is specified in the following ordinance of the city code as enacted by the City of South Miami Commission:

Composition

Section 16-33(a). There is hereby created a Board of Trustees of the City of South Miami Police Officers' Retirement Trust Fund, (Ord. 16-79-1038) which Board shall consist of five (5) trustees, who shall be appointed or elected, and who shall serve, in accordance with Section 185.05, Florida Statues. Two (2) of the trustees must be legal residents of the City of South Miami and shall be appointed by the South Miami Commission. Two (2) of the must be Police Officers who are participants of the Trust Fund. The fifth member of the Board shall be chosen by a majority of the previously referenced four trustees, and such person’s name shall be submitted to the South Miami Commission for ratification.
