 BATTERY DISPOSAL 

 Disposal can be carried out at Miami-Dade County's Home Chemical Collection Centers. 


 Local Centers:

 South Dade: 3707 S.W. 97th Ave., Gate B. 
 Normal hours of operation are Wednesday through Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  • Considering the batteries, you should choose to use rechargeable alkaline batteries. They work just as well and can be recharged 20 or more times. NiCad batteries can be recharged several hundred times.
  • Note that it is illegal to put rechargeable batteries in the garbage.
  • Button and nickel-cadmium batteries can be taken to a participating disposal store such as Radio Shack, Target, or Home Depot.
