The City of South Miami has embarked on a review and rewrite of its Zoning Code for its commercial areas. The zoning code contains the primary rules for how property may be developed. It focuses on heights, density, setbacks, etc. The goals of the Study are to revisit and update the existing regulations with the goal of enhancing the viability of and encouraging the appropriate growth of the City. This Study will strive to recognize the historic character, walkability, affordability, and a realistic reliance on the nearby Metrorail system. It provides a basis for contemporary development as it maintains the character and enhances the quality of life of the City.
