The City’s park system includes seventeen (17) parks and facilities: fourteen (14) parks, a community center, an aquatic center, and a senior plaza where city-managed programs are offered.

Our Parks in a Snapshot

• 1 outdoor pool
• 1 splash pad
• 3 jogging/walking path
• 6 playgrounds and 4 tot lot areas
• 1 dog park (turf)
• 1 indoor fitness center
• 3 outdoor fitness zones
• 1 indoor basketball gymnasium
• 4 outdoor basketball courts
• 3 handball courts
• 1 dedicated pickleball court; 2 retro-fitted courts
• 2 sand volleyballs
• 5 youth-size infields
• 1 tee-ball field 
• 12 athletic multipurpose fields
• 6 clay tennis courts
• 4 hard tennis courts
• 3 pavilions and 4 gazebos

 The following are prohibited:

• Abusive, obscene, or offensive language; yelling or screaming.
• Fireworks of any type.
• Overnight parking and camping.
• Alcoholic beverages, except by special permit.
• Cattle, mules, swine, sheep, goats, fowl, or horses, ponies or horseback riding.
• Unauthorized motor vehicles in parks and on turf or infields.
• Slacklining; climbing on trees, structures or fences.
• Propane grills.
• Organized programs and events without a permit.

 Permitting:    

A permit is required for any organized activity, program, or event on City of South Miami Parks property involving a group of people.  Some examples of activities that require a permit include but are not limited to: 

• Exclusive use of a sports field or open green space. 
• Exclusive use of a facility (i.e. picnic shelter). 
• Birthday parties, fundraisers, and potlucks. 
• Meetings. 
• Team athletic instruction.
• Boot camp and fitness classes. 
• Specialize services. 
• Personal training/instruction. 
• Volunteer(s) or volunteer organization(s) activities. 
• Special events, filming, farmer’s market.
