BATTERY DISPOSAL

 Disposal can be carried out at Miami-Dade County's Home Chemical Collection Centers. 

Local Centers: 
West Dade: 8831 N.W. 58th St.
South Dade: 3707 S.W. 97th Ave. Gate B.
Normal hours of operation are Wednesday through Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Note that the following information includes some of the data provided at these web sites for your convenience:

  • Considering the batteries, you should choose to use rechargeable alkaline batteries. They work just as well and can be recharged 20 or more times. NiCad batteries can be recharged several hundred times.
  • Note that it is illegal to put rechargeable batteries in the garbage.
  • Button and nickel cadmium batteries can be taken to a participating disposal store such as Radio Shack, Target, or the Home Depot.
